Why London founders work with us remotely

London founders tend to be time-poor and well-advised. They usually already have an accountant and sometimes a solicitor; what they lack is a practical UAE operator who can turn a decision into a licence, visa and bank account without endless back-and-forth. That is our role.

Example: a City-based compliance consultant wants to serve Gulf banks. After one evening video call, we shortlist two Dubai free zones, flag that her activity must avoid anything that looks like a regulated financial service, and give her accountant a one-page summary. She signs electronically from London and flies out once, for three days, to complete immigration and bank meetings.

DIFC and financial services

Many London enquiries come from people in finance. If your activity is regulated, DIFC and the DFSA are likely to be relevant, and the process involves regulatory specialists. We help you decide whether you need that route at all—many advisory or support activities do not—and introduce specialists where regulation applies.

Keeping in touch in UK hours

Dubai is three or four hours ahead of London depending on the season. We work to UK hours for your updates, so you are not chasing answers at 6am. WhatsApp is usually the fastest way to reach us for quick questions; bigger decisions go in writing.

UK tax & residency – speak to your UK adviser

We are not UK tax advisers and nothing on this page is tax advice. What follows is a high-level orientation so you can have a better-informed conversation with a qualified UK accountant or tax adviser before you act.

Your personal UK tax residence is decided by the Statutory Residence Test (SRT), which looks at days spent in the UK and ‘ties’ such as family, accommodation, work and previous residence. Leaving the UK does not by itself end UK residence, and the split-year rules have their own conditions. Keeping a contemporaneous record of travel days and ties from the start is sensible.

A company is generally treated as UK tax resident if it is incorporated in the UK or if its central management and control is exercised in the UK. That means a UAE company whose strategic decisions are in practice taken by a director sitting in the UK could raise questions. Where board decisions are made, and by whom, matters.

London founders often have complex UK positions—multiple properties, share schemes, directorships or non-dom history. These make the SRT and any exit planning especially important to review with a UK adviser before you rely on a UAE structure.

Our role: we coordinate with your UK adviser so that the UAE side—licence, residence, Emirates ID, tenancy and banking—happens in the order your adviser recommends, and we provide the UAE documents they need. We do not recommend a UK tax position.
